About Us

Schatzfunde kennels is located in the town of Armidale in Northern NSW. Schatzfunde breeder Rachel has been training dogs in the region for five years and has studied dog behaviour and training with the Delta Society of Australia.

Our interest in the German Shepherd Dog has been long standing. In 2002 Rachel obtained her first GSD Jaeger, a black and tan male, bred on the North Coast of NSW. Around this time Burkes Backyard conducted a road test on the white shepherd. From this point on the obsession with the white dog began.

In February 2003 our first white shepherd Schatzi (aka Whitemist Treasure) entered the family. From this point on there was no looking back!

Schatzfunde is dedicated to the improvement of the White Shepherd in Australia. We hope to introduce new lines to the genepool and strive to bring positive attention to these beautiful dogs.

At Schatzfunde we believe that temperament and good conformation are more important than colour. We do not fear using coloured dogs in our breeding program if we believe they will assist in the betterment of the breed.

Our dogs regularly compete in a variety of dog sports. Agility is our favourite sport and both Jaeger and Schatzi compete in trials with both the ANKC and ADAA (Agility Dog Association of Australia). Jaeger and Schatzi make up two out of the three shepherds who regularly trial on the agility circuit in Northern NSW. In addition to agility our dogs compete and train in obedience, endurance and herding. We hope to add tracking and lure coursing to this list in the not too distant future.

Our dogs attend public demonstrations at events such as school fetes and the RSPCA Million Paws walk. Schatzi performs a myriad of tricks and is popular with young fans all throughout the town.

Most importantly, our dogs are valued members of the family. They share all aspects of our lives. Our dogs live inside the house with us, go on visits to friends and family and share all outings with the family. They are first and foremost, much loved family pets.

We are registered breeders with the White German Shepherd Dog Alliance of Victoria and the Australian White German Shepherd Dog Group.
